A standing rotational core exercise using a resistance band, training the obliques with a home-gym-friendly setup.
How to do it
- Anchor a band at chest height to your side and hold it with both hands, arms extended.
- Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, facing away from the anchor point.
- Rotate your torso away from the anchor, keeping your arms extended.
- Return to the starting position under control.
- Complete all reps on one side before switching.
Coaching tips
- Rotate from your torso, not just your arms — the arms should stay relatively fixed relative to your chest.
- Keep your hips facing forward as much as possible to isolate the twist in your core.
- A great oblique exercise for a home gym since it only needs a resistance band and an anchor point.
Common mistakes
- Rotating the hips along with the torso instead of isolating the twist to the core.
- Using a band that's too heavy, leading to jerky, uncontrolled reps.
